DOE Co-Sponsors Conference: ‘Creating a Culture of Inclusion’
The New Jersey Department of Education and the Monmouth County Office of Education are co-sponsoring a day-long conference with Brookdale Community College on Friday, April 27, 2007. The conference, “Creating a Culture of Inclusion” is designed for school board members, administrators, supervisors, teachers, parents and service providers.
Participants in the conference will learn how to develop enhanced communication skills between general education staff and their special education peers, and present the foundations for creating a culture of inclusion. The conference responds to a need to overcome difficulties in communication between general and special education staff, particularly regarding issues of communication, discipline and problem solving.
Eric Hartwig, Ph.D., consulting editor for “Today’s School Psychologist,” will present the program. Other speakers in the day’s program will be Assistant Commissioner of Education Barbara Gantwerk of the Division of the Department of Education’s Division of Student Services; Monmouth County Superintendent of Schools Eugenia Lawson; Monmouth County Supervisor of Child Study Karen Frumen; and Dr. Margaret M.
