DOE to Present ‘Troops to Teachers’ Program at Vietnam Era Education Center
The New Jersey Department of Education will present “Troops to Teachers: Careers in Education for Our Military Veterans,” beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 12. Melissa Fantozzi, program coordinator for Troops to Teachers in New Jersey, will deliver the presentation and participate in a discussion of the program at the Vietnam Era Educational Center in Holmdel.
The program, hosted by the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation, will introduce attendees to Troops to Teachers, a program designed to promote teaching to retired members of the military. New Jersey’s Troops to Teachers office has counseled hundreds of interested military personnel, advising them on routes and programs to achieve full teacher certification in New Jersey, and referring them to school districts for employment.
Retired military personnel who meet eligibility requirements for Troops to Teachers are shown how they can have a second career in the classroom. For more information on Troops to Teachers in New Jersey, call 1-800-680-0884.
The Vietnam Era Educational Center is located next to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial off the Garden State Parkway at exit 116.
