Professional Development Planning

New 2012-13 School/District Professional Development Planning Process
In 2011-12 districts and schools were asked to submit revisions and modifications to their existing professional development plan.  In addition, districts were asked to develop a more robust evaluation of the plan to show evidence of impact of professional learning on classroom practice and student learning.  As you engage in the PD planning process for next year (2012-13) at the school and district levels, please continue to follow 2011 -12 guidance. For 2012-13, the School Professional Development Committee and the District Professional Development Committee will, again, make modifications/revisions to their existing professional development plan using the following guidance:

  • Based on evaluation findings, submit a revised/modified plan on the existing plan.  Section A, Reflection, will be entirely new as you will be reflecting on what has been accomplished;
  • Ensure the plan is aligned to and uses the principles within the Professional Development standards;
  • Review each section of your current school plan to identify where you are meeting/not meeting your goals seeking input from all stakeholders; and
  • Using the existing templates, add to the current professional development plan for the school for 2012-13, making additions and modifications to goals, opportunities, and resources using the questions in the guidance documents and planning templates; Highlight or bold additions to the plan.
