Executive Director:Frank Grossman
Bio: Frank Grossman is the Executive Director for the New Jersey Department of Education's (NJDOE) Region 4 Regional Achievement Center (RAC), which serves Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset, and Union Counties. In this role, he is responsible for spearheading school improvement efforts at Priority and Focus Schools in Region 4. This work includes partnering with schools and districts to: set clear goals for student growth; use data to drive decision-making; design accountability systems; direct professional development; and coordinate state services. Prior to this role, Dr. Grossman was the Data Specialist for the NJDOE's Region 6 RAC. As the Data Specialist, he worked with school, district, and state-based personnel to develop data collection, analysis, and reporting policies and practices that enhanced practitioners' use of data to drive decision-making. Prior to joining the RAC team, Dr. Grossman was an assistant professor at Swarthmore College where he taught classes in Urban Education and Education Policy and prepared student teachers. Dr. Grossman directed multiple research projects, which have resulted in a greater understanding of the role of teachers and administrators in creating school change and decision-making processes in a state education agency. He has numerous publications and conference presentations. Dr. Grossman began his career as a high school biology teacher, science department chair, leadership team member, and football coach in a large comprehensive high school in Los Angeles. Dr. Grossman earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University.
