FACTS ON NJ E-RATE FUNDING COMMITMENTS - WAVE ONE

NATIONAL INFORMATION
- More than 30,000 applications received for the Universal Service Fund by the Schools and Libraries Corporation (SLC).
- All applications will be notified over coming weeks in waves two, three and possibly four.
- This first wave notifies agencies that submitted approximately 3,000 applications.
- Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed in the form of a discount on eligible services for this wave: $73 million.
- All 30,000 applicants throughout the nation will be notified within the next few weeks.
NEW JERSEY INFORMATION
- Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed to New Jersey in the form of a discount on eligible services in the first wave: $2,024,573.79. (2.8% of national total in the first wave.)
- Total number of awards in NJ: 188. (NJ comprised 6.6% of the national awards.)
- Number of agencies notified in the first wave are: 82. Many agencies filed more than one application for separate services in the following categories:

Total awards for Abbott districts = $510,166.05
Only two applications were funded for internal connections: Perth Amboy and Northstar Charter School. Both agencies receive a 90% discount on internal connections for local area networks for a total $261,005.58
Lowest amount of award in this wave: Fanwood Memorial Library, Union County, for telecommunications service (40% discount) with a fund commitment of $64.
