FACTS ON NJ E-RATE FUNDING COMMITMENTS - 4

NATIONAL INFORMATION
- More than 30,000 applications received for the Universal Service Fund by the Schools and Libraries Corporation (SLC).
- All applications will be notified in several waves by the end of January 1999.
- This fourth wave notifies agencies that submitted approximately 1086 applications.
- Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed in the form of a discount on eligible services for this wave: $33 million.
NEW JERSEY INFORMATION
- New Jersey's schools and libraries have applied for more than $74 million in E-Rate discounts.
- New Jersey's E-Rate applications would directly benefit 63% of its public school districts, 50% of its non-public schools, and 33% of its libraries throughout the state.
- Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed to New Jersey in the form of a discount on eligible services in the fourth wave: $631,713.15. Total amount committed to New Jersey to-date: $5,602,551.51. (2.7% of national total to-date = $209 million.)
- Total number of awards in NJ: 112. (NJ comprised 10.3% of the national awards.)
- Number of agencies notified in the third wave are: 48. Many agencies filed more than one application for separate services in the following categories:
