NATIONAL INFORMATION
- More than 30,000 applications received for the Universal Service Fund by the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD).
- All applications will be notified in several waves by the end of February 1999.
- This eighth wave notified agencies that submitted approximately 2,400 applications.
- Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed nationally in the form of a discount on eligible services for this wave: approximately $ 320 million.
NEW JERSEY INFORMATION
- New Jersey's schools and libraries have applied for more than $74 million in E-Rate discounts. New Jersey's E-Rate applications would directly benefit 63% of its public school districts, 50% of its non-public schools, and 33% of its libraries throughout the state.
- Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed to New Jersey in the form of a discount on eligible services in this wave: $11,440,214.48. Total amount committed to New Jersey at this time: $46,888,908.57, which is 3.6% of national total (approximately $320 million).
- Total number of awards in NJ for wave eight: 186. (NJ comprised 3.0% of the national awards.)
- Number of agencies notified in the eighth wave: 73. Many agencies filed more than one application for separate services in the following categories:
Public School Districts: 46 (Seven Abbott districts received awards in this wave)
Non-Public Schools: 19
Public Libraries: 8
