A. No, however you are certifying that all the information on the application is true and correct.

Q. How can I find out if I am really interested in being a teacher?

A. Many current teachers started out by substitute teaching or volunteering in a school at the grade level and subject area of interest. You may apply directly to the County Office of Education in which you reside for a substitute teaching certificate. If you are interested in substitute teaching and do not currently reside in New Jersey, please call the Office of Licensure and Academic Credentials at 1.609.292.2070.

Q. How can I complete a teacher credentialing program if I need to financially support myself/my family?

A. There are alternatives to traditional university credential programs. The State of New Jersey’s Alternate Route to Certification program allows individuals to be a hired as a full-time teacher while they are completing the requirements to earn a permanent state teaching certificate. Teacher preparation and employment actually occur simultaneously. Q. Will Troops to Teachers find a teaching position for me?

A. Troops to Teachers can offer assistance with your search in finding employment as a teacher. Information can be provided regarding school district profiles, recruitment web sites, upcoming job fairs and resume’ tips. However, you must apply for teaching positions and interview on your own.
