To help disaster victims - The best way to help disaster victims is through cash donations. Cash donations allow disaster victims to purchase what is actually needed and help rebuild the local economy through local purchases. Response agencies become overburdened when they face tasks they are not suited to perform, like sorting and distributing donations. Please do not send or drop off used or new clothing, household goods, prepared food, or furniture at shelter locations or areas affected by the disaster. The following agencies have been identified to accept cash donations:
- Community Food Bank of NJ 1-908-355-3663
- Salvation Army 1-800-725-2769
- Adventist Community Services 1-800-381-7171
- Church World Service 1-800-297-1516
- Southern Baptist Relief 1-800-462-8657
- American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund 1-800-HELP NOW
or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish).Further information on other voluntary organizations can be found on the Internet at http://www.nvoad.org/
