Today I had the opportunity to visit another school in our state that is doing great things for children with autism. Jefferson Elementary School in Hawthorne offers incredibly impressive programs for all their students, including those with autism and other learning disabilities. They were chosen to be a Blue Ribbon School in 2011 by the US Department of Education, one of 7 in our state! So it was great to go see them and learn more about their curriculum. My daughter Sarah and I had the chance to see some classes in action and meet with the children. It was a great way to start our morning off, seeing children who were excited about learning and teachers who were making a difference in those children’s lives. Thank you to Mayor Goldberg, who was able to join us today for the visit.
