The Children's Institute is a beautiful place - situated on a lush hilltop in Verona - but the children who attend this school are what make it really special. Today Mrs. Christie toured the school geared towards children on the autism spectrum and with related disabilities ages 3-21. She visited their classrooms and even participated in an interactive history lesson. One of the most fascinating things to see was the student-run greenhouse that sits atop the school's "penthouse" floor. At the conclusion of the tour, Mrs. Christie presented The Children's Institute with a donation of 500 Scholastic Books. The day was complete when the school's Girl Scout troop presented the First Lady with handmade potted plants from the Greenhouse. What an impressive group of children, teachers, and administrators!
