First Lady Mary Pat Christie Supports 12th Annual Family Day
If you drove by the Governor’s Residence in Princeton on September 23rd, you may have noticed that it was lit in red and blue lights. This is because Mrs. Christie supports Family Day. Launched in 2001 by CASAColumbia®, Family Day is a national initiative that focuses on parental engagement as an effective tool to help keep America’s kids substance free. Research shows that children with more involved parents are less likely to smoke, drink, or use other substances. As Honorary Chair of Family Day in New Jersey, Mrs. Christie highlights the importance of parents engaging in their children’s lives. Through simple activities like reading to young children at bedtime and frequent family dinners, parents can effectively connect and communicate with their kids, building long-lasting supportive relationships that will be beneficial in the future.
