Mrs. Christie gave remarks and hosted eighty-six New Jersey finalists in the “Letters about Literature” program. This program is offered by the Library of Congress in conjunction with Target. The finalists came to Drumthwacket for the New Jersey Center for the Book reception. The task for these young readers was to, “Write a letter to an author explaining how his or her work somehow changed your view of the world or yourself”. More than 69,000 young people from across the country participated in this year’s writing contest, 4,200 of them coming from New Jersey.
