Delayed Opening Will Allow For Clearing Of Roadways And Less Hazardous Travel Conditions During Morning Commute

Trenton, NJ – In order to allow ample time for roadways, parking lots and sidewalks to be cleared and made safe for travel, Governor Christie authorized a delayed opening of 11:00 am for all non-essential state employees on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Essential employees should report to work on their regular schedule.

“Tonight’s winter storm is expected to last through tomorrow morning, bringing additional snow and creating hazardous travel conditions for the morning commute,” said Governor Christie. “I strongly encourage all New Jerseyans to drive slowly and exercise caution on the roads tonight and tomorrow morning. I thank our state’s transportation crews and first responders for their tireless efforts to keep our residents safe.”

Beginning tonight, a winter storm is expected to bring snow, mixed precipitation and freezing temperatures, producing hazardous travel conditions and affecting transportation across the state. Current road conditions are available at the New Jersey Department of Transportation website at
