The Police Department in the municipality in which the animal cruelty or abuse happened.
Many municipalities have Animal Control Officers that are trained, certified and authorized as Animal Cruelty Investigators and therefore can investigate animal cruelty or abuse situations. Contact the Animal Control Officer in the municipality where the cruelty or abuse is occurring to see if they are authorized to investigate animal cruelty.
TheNew Jersey Society for the Prevention of Crueltyto Animals (NJSPCA) has a 24 hour hotline to report animal cruelty, 800-582-5979. Cases may be investigated by the NJSPCA or referred to a county NJSPCA organization for investigation.
The Sheriff's Department in the county in which the animal cruelty or abuse happened.
