Human health is closely linked to animal health and production. A number of diseases (known as zoonoses) are transmitted from animals to humans. Veterinary public health strives to identify, prevent and control the spread of such diseases through traditional public health measures such as surveillance, epidemiology, diagnosis, and guidance on treatment.
