Dr. M. Carolyn Daniels, DHSC Director Dr. Daniels joined the Department as Director of the Office of Minority and Multicultural Health in April 2011. In this capacity she is responsible for the oversight and successful execution of all Department programs designed to improve the health of disparate minority communities across the state. The office is focused on improving health disparities, removing barriers to care and ensuring that culturally appropriate care is given to all minority groups in New Jersey. Prior to joining the Department, Dr. Daniels spent 18 years with United Healthcare, concluding her time with the company as Vice President of Business Development. In this role she expanded business and growth in the Medicaid Managed care market. She also served as Vice President for Strategic Accounts and Business Development for Optumhealth – a UnitedHealthcare Group company- where she expanded business growth in the behavioral health market. She also worked as Vice President Operations Public Sector for United Behavioral Health developing programs to improve care coordination. During her time at United Behavioral Health she oversaw the creation and launch of online employee multi-cultural diversity sensitivity and awareness training programs. Dr. Daniels earned a Bachelor of Science from Central State University, Xenia OH; a Masters of Education from Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA; Management Development Certification from Harvard Business School, Boston, MA, and a Doctor of Health Science from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, FL. |
