Joy Lindo, M.A., J.D.
Joy Lindo joined the Department as Director of the Office of Legal and Regulatory Compliance in February 2013.
Prior to joining the Department, Ms. Lindo served as Counsel at K&L Gates LLP in Newark, New Jersey. She represented clients such as Fortune 500 corporations and public entities in all phases of employment and commercial litigation. She also regularly counseled clients on workplace policies and compliance strategies. Ms. Lindo has experience appearing before administrative agencies as well as in federal and state courts.
Prior to law school, Ms. Lindo worked on a multi-million dollar outpatient substance abuse treatment study at the Center of Alcohol Studies at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, for which she coordinated counselor training and conducted clinical assessments.
Ms. Lindo received her B.A., summa cum laude,in 1994 and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Marist College in 1995. She was awarded her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, magna cum laude, in 2001, where she served as Senior Notes Editor for the Seton Hall Law Review. After law school, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jaynee LaVecchia, Supreme Court of New Jersey and the Honorable John C. Lifland, U.S.D.C, District of New Jersey.
