Avian Influenza

  • Avian influenza or "bird flu" is an influenza virus found mainly in wild birds. Since 1997, a strain of avian influenza has been found in humans as well as birds.
  • Several hundred people in Asia and Europe have contracted this strain of avian flu from direct contact from poultry.
  • To date, threr is no confirmed evidence of easy person to person transmission of this strain of avian influenza.
