Children and Adolescents

In later childhood and adolescence, new health and social issues emerge. However, children still require the basics of good health:

  • Nutritious food, good eating habits and adequate exercise
  • Protection from household ands neighborhood hazards
  • Safe child care while away from parents
  • Some children with special health needs require continuing services

Two links in this section address important issues for older children:

  • Chronic diseases, such as asthma and diabetes
  • Teen social behavior and safety, including sexual health issues
