Specialized Pediatric Centers

Each of the state's 21 counties has a Special Child Health Services (SCHS) Case Management Unit jointly funded by SCHS and the county freeholders. SCHS Case Managers, with parental consent, work with the child's parents and the physician to evaluate an affected child's strengths and needs; and develops an individual service plan for the child and family. Medical, educational, developmental, social and economic needs of the child and family are targeted.

Pediatric Tertiary Care Centers

These three regional centers provide comprehensive interdisciplinary diagnostic and/or treatment services to children with multiple handicapping conditions and/or chronic illnesses. The focus is on providing comprehensive care in a family centered environment.

Cleft Lip, Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Centers

There are five centers, which provide comprehensive diagnosis, assessment and treatment for children with cleft lip and or cleft palate and other craniofacial anomalies. Comprehensive treatment can include plastic surgery, dentistry, orthodontia, otolaryngology, speech therapy, audiology, psychology and social services that can include family counseling.
