General headings of groups identified include Abuse; Addictions/ Dependencies; Bereavement; Disabilities; Health (primarily diagnostic categories or disorders); Mental Health; Parenting/Family; and others.

SPAN strives to provide the best support and training to families and professionals who need assistance and keep people informed about important events in education, health care, and all the other areas of life that impact on families of children with special health care needs and the professionals who work with them.
SPAN in partnership with the Department of Health conducts the following family support activities through Family WRAP (Wisdom, Resources, Advocacy and Parent to Parent):

2. Family Voices New Jersey
3. Parent to Parent
Parent to Parent is a telephone support program. If you are interested in volunteering to be a support parent or are looking for support, you may contact SPAN directly.
Family Voices New Jersey, a chapter of the national organization described below provides families with information and advocacy. You may contact your state chapter by SPAN.

A national grass roots network of families and friends speaking on behalf of children with special health care needs. Family Voices distributes a newsletter that identifies federal issues and directions related to children with special health care needs and resources for families. Annual cost for the newsletter is $25.

Catastrophic Illness In Children Relief Fund
Financial help is available from this fund if your child is 18 years old or younger when the medical bills were incurred; the expenses for your child not covered by insurance or state/federal program exceeded 10% of annual family income plus 15% of any income over $100,000; and, your family has lived in New Jersey at least 3 months prior to application. Note: The Fund covers expenses dating back to 1988. Call the Fund or contact the county based case management unit in your county.

This website is dedicated to providing state of the art information regarding clinical care, research findings, and available investigational drug protocols. The website serves to increase the visibility of the Network, and to facilitate access to services and information throughout the State.
