Continuing Education Unit

Ensures that all local public health professionals attain a minimum level of continuing education annually in accordance with the Public Health Practice Standards of Performance for Local Boards of Health in New Jersey (NJAC 8:52).
Builds core and leadership competencies in the local public health workforce via traditional and distance learning.
Supports the implementation of Practice Standards workforce development requirements for health officers, registered environmental health specialists, public health nurses, and health educators to complete discipline-specific competency development.
Ensures the provision of continuing education through the New Jersey Learning Management Network (NJLMN).

What do the Practice Standards say about the Continuing Education?

8:52-8.4 Workforce continuing education , Chapter 52, requires provision of coordinated program of continuing education for staff which includes attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences, in-service training, and/or formal courses to improve skills and knowledge in accordance with their professional needs.
