The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS) will host two community meetings regarding the Mercer Rubber Company site in Hamilton Township, Mercer County on Wednesday, September 13, at the Nottingham Fire Company.

Federal, state and local officials will discuss the recently drafted Public Health Assessment and the Health Consultation and answer question from residents and concerned citizens.

The first session will be held will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. when community members can privately discuss their concerns with federal and state officials.

During the second session from 6 to 8 p.m., a formal presentation will be made by state and federal officials followed by a question-and-answer session. There will also be opportunities for one-on-one sessions with health experts.

The Department also extended the deadline for receiving public comments on the Assessment and Consultation until September 29, 2006.  Public comments must be postmarked by September 29^th to be considered in the review.
