New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) Commissioner Heather Howard, participates in a month-long campaign designed to help reduce health disparities in minority populations by awarding grants to eight community-based organizations that will train volunteers in helping individuals better manage chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes.

The campaign is being launched in recognition of September as Minority and Multicultural Health Month. The grants will be awarded on Tuesday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hispanic Family Center of South Jersey, 2850 Federal St., Camden, NJ
