Trenton—On Friday, February 13, Governor Jon S. Corzine will join Department of Health and Senior Services Commissioner Heather Howard at the Henry J. Austin Health Center to announce grants to strengthen New Jersey’s health care safety net and expand access to health care in the state. Funding will be distributed to sixteen Federally Qualified Health Centers, which will enable facilities to improve services, hire doctors and nurses, and extend hours to better serve their communities.
This event will begin at 11 a.m. at the Henry J. Austin Health Center, 112 Ewing Street, Trenton, NJ. New Jersey’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are key partners in ensuring all residents have access to care. New Jersey’s community health centers provide comprehensive health care including internal medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, geriatrics, podiatry, pharmacy, x-ray, dental, and mental health services. Each year, more than 300,000 patients make more than a million visits to the centers. ### | |
