On Thursday, October 6, New Jersey Health and Senior Services Commissioner Mary O’Dowd will accept the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance “Spirit of the YMCA” award for the Department’s ShapingNJ initiative.  This program is being recognized for its efforts to support the health and well-being of all New Jersey residents.

The awards ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm at the Forsgate County Club, 375 Forsgate Drive, Monroe Township.

ShapingNJ: The State Partnership for Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention is a public-private partnership of 170 diverse stakeholders, including businesses, community-based, and national and state organizations focusing on policy and environmental changes around obesity and chronic disease prevention. Through the ShapingNJ initiative, the Department works with partners to make the healthy choice the easy choice for all residents.
