NEW BRUNSWICK – On Tuesday, March 1, Health and Senior Services Commissioner Dr. Poonam Alaigh will release the report, “The Health of the Newest New Jerseyans: A Resource Guide,” and will discuss the health status and health needs of the state’s nearly 2 million foreign-born residents.        

            More than 20 percent of New Jersey’s population is foreign born.  The DHSS report examines the particular health issues various foreign-born groups face and how their health status and health behaviors change the longer they live in the U.S.

            The Commissioner will brief the media at 12:30 p.m. at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging at Rutgers, 112 Paterson St., New Brunswick.  Directions to the Institute are at: www.ihhcpar.rutgers.edu/directions.asp.
