West Nile Virus
TRENTON - A summary of tests conducted to detect the presence of West Nile virus (WNV) in humans, birds and mosquitoes will be posted each week throughout mosquito season on the Department of Health and Senior Services' web site at www.state.nj.us/health. Updates will be posted as soon as results become available. Reporters covering this story are urged to check the site on a regular basis.
reports the detection of West Nile virus in three crows found in Middlesex County.
The crows were found May 4 in Edison, May 8 in Iselin, and May 10 in Piscataway.
To date in 2001, 36 crows and one hawk have been tested. Of those, 5 crows have
tested positive for WNV.
