Trenton -- The Department of Health and Senior Services will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 27, 1999, on the proposed expenditures of federal Ryan White Title II funding.
The Division of the AIDS Prevention and Control uses the federal funding to provide vital services for persons infected with the HIV virus. The funding is used to administer New Jersey's HIV Care Consortia, which is a network designed to improve access, quality and organization of HIV related services throughout the State. In addition, the funds provide prescriptions, health insurance and housing assistance for persons with HIV.
The funding will be used to provide services from April 1, 1999 through March 31, 2000. New Jersey's allocation of the funding is based on a formula developed by the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration. This year, the Department of Health and Senior Services received $28.2 million from the Title II funds.
Annual public hearings on proposed use of use of the Title II funds are required by the Ryan White Act of 1996.
Anyone interested in testifying can call the Intervention and Care Services Unit at (609) 984-6125. Speakers are encouraged to submit a copy of their comments at the time of their testimony. Anyone who is unable to attend the hearing may submit their comments to the Division of AIDS Prevention and Control, Intervention and Care Services Unit, P.O. Box 363, Trenton, New Jersey 08625-0363.
