Investigations and Inspection Reports

In order for animal facilities (kennels, pet shops, pounds and shelters) to operate in New Jersey, they must be licensed annually by June 30 of each year in the municipality where they are located. In order for the license to be issued, the local health department will inspect the facility and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and ordinances.

The New Jersey Department of Health provides technical assistance to local health departments throughout the State and, in some cases, may jointly inspect facilities with local health department staff. These reports are available below, organized by region.

For all other inspection reports, contact the area's local health department.
