Sustaining Effective Partnerships to Help Low-income Students Prepare for College

Statewide Stakeholders Meeting, February 27, 2013, 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Trenton-Marriott Hotel 1 W. Lafayette Street, Trenton, NJ

It will be an opportunity for school and community partners to:

Learn more about NJ GEAR UP goals, services, and successes

• Students: after-school and Saturday tutoring, summer academic enrichment programs, mentoring, counseling, test  preparation, and college visits
• Parents: workshops on financial aid and postsecondary options
• Teachers/counselors: customized research-based professional development across content areas

Leverage NJ GEAR UP resources to address the challenges of college readiness for low-income students across partner schools

The guest list for this event will include superintendents, principals, teachers, and staff from the fifty-eight (58) participating GEAR UP schools and eight (8) GEAR UP school districts. The Honorable Rochelle Hendricks, NJ Secretary of Higher Education, will also be in attendance; along with GEAR UP staff and other key representatives from partner colleges and universities.
