06.26.15 Supports Program to Launch in July - Special Invitation Extended to New Providers!
With the anticipated launch of the Supports Program and implementation of the Medicaid-based, Fee-for-Service System in July 2015, the Division is actively recruiting providers who have the interest and capacity to offer high quality services in the community for New Jersey adults (age 21+) with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We invite current and prospective providers and other community partners to review and share our New Provider Welcome Packet, which includes a link to the webinar, Providing Services in the New Jersey Developmental Disabilities System: A Primer for New Providers.

06.18.15 Accessing Tier Assignment Information
As previously announced, in order to ensure that we have the most current and accurate information about individuals’ support needs prior to shifting into the new Fee-for-Service system, the Division is reassessing all individuals utilizing the New Jersey Comprehensive Assessment Tool (NJ CAT).
To assist individuals, families and providers in better understanding the NJ CAT assessment, the Division has released a short pre-recorded webinar, Completing the NJ CAT.
Once an individual has gone through the NJ CAT, he/she will be able to access his/her “tier” assignment (which is utilized to determine the budget level) by completing and submitting the Request for Tier Assignment Form.
To Submit Online (preferred method):
1. Go to the secure site: https://secureupload.dhs.state.nj.us/su/
2. Enter Contact (Requestor’s) Name, Phone Number and Email Address
3. In the DDD SU Unit dropdown menu, please select “Request Tier”
4. Upload the completed Request for Tier Assignment Form
5. Press Submit

Please note: due to the high volume of assessments being conducted, we expect it may take 60 – 90 days from completion of the NJ CAT in order for an individual to access this tiering information.
06.18.15 Important Announcement Regarding 2015 Graduates
The Division is recommending that 2015 graduates in need of Division funded services enter into the system as soon as services are needed rather than waiting to be enrolled into the Supports Program once enrollment begins this July/Summer.
Once enrolled into the Supports Program, the individual will have to select service providers that have completed the provider application process and become an approved Medicaid and DDD provider.
While providers continue to submit applications and become approved, there are concerns that not enough providers have completed this process to ensure that individuals have a wide enough selection of providers at this time.
The Division anticipates that provider capacity will build over the summer and individuals in the system will be able to shift into the Supports Program within weeks to months of entering the system this summer.
06.08.15 Provider Update
Interim Pre-Service Training and Medication Administration Training
Please note that the Division’s Interim Pre-Service Training System will be extended through December 31, 2015 to allow for a longer transition for accessing training in the current model.
Please also note that the Division’s requirement for all existing agency staff who administer medications to have completed an On-site Competency Assessment will be extended to September 30, 2015, at which time all existing staff in the agency who administer medications must have completed an On-site Competency Assessment.

06.01.15 Important Change in Combined Application Process
Contrary to previous guidance, the Division recently became aware that in order to apply to become an approved Medicaid/DDD provider and receive payment for claims submitted, service providers will need to obtain an NPI for each location from which services are delivered. This process goes quickly when applying through the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) website.
If you have already submitted your Combined Application to Become a Medicaid/DDD Approved Provider with just one NPI, you do not need to resubmit your application. Molina (Medicaid’s fiscal agent) will reach out to you to get the NPI for additional locations. Details on how and when Molina will contact providers who have already submitted the application are forthcoming.

The 2015 Graduates Aging Out of the School System Timeline provides an overview for young adults who will exhaust their educational entitlement by turning 21 years of age within the 2014-15 school year, and who wish to pursue Division-funded services.
