Public Advisory Boards, Commissions & Councils
The Department serves nearly one million people and deals with a host of not-for-profit agencies, advocacy and constituency groups. In carrying out its mission, DHS involves the public heavily in its decision making process.
The State Board of Human Services, the State Human Services Advisory Council, various boards, councils and task force groups, plus community providers and constituent groups provide extensive public input on department direction and policy.
The volunteers who serve with these groups are a valuable part of the DHS team, and their advice is helpful in a myriad of ways, whether helping prioritize budget decisions or for gaining better insight on policy decisions and real life factors in the lives of those we serve.
