State of New Jersey
Executive Order #121

Governor Christine Todd Whitman

This executive order rescinds EO #101 Whitman.

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 101, issued on September 15, 1999, declared a State of Emergency in anticipation of the arrival of Tropical Storm Floyd in the State of New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 101 has been continued since September 15, 1999 due to severe damage and destruction caused by the impact of Tropical Storm Floyd, too large in scope to be handled by normal municipal operating services; and

WHEREAS, the emergency powers conferred upon the Governor by the Constitution and statutes of the State of New Jersey are no longer necessary to address any remaining aftermath caused by Tropical Storm Floyd;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHRISTINE TODD WHITMAN, Governor of the State of New Jersey, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and by the statutes of this State, do hereby order and direct:

1. The State of Emergency declared in Executive Order No. 101 is hereby terminated effective immediately; and

2. Executive Order No. 101 and all rules, regulations and proclamations issued thereunder are hereby rescinded.

I wish to express my appreciation to the people of New Jersey for the manner in which they cooperated during this emergency, and particularly to those in the affected areas who rose to the occasion in the face of unspeakable adversity. I want to express special gratitude to those performing heroic rescues of flood-stranded residents in the early morning hours of September 17, 1999, who undoubtedly were indeed lifesavers.

Gratitude is also expressed to all emergency responders for their untiring efforts during the course of the emergency.

GIVEN, under my hand and seal
this 30th day of January in the Year
of Our Lord, Two Thousand and
One, and of the Independence of
the United States, the Two Hundred
and Twenty-Fifth.

Christine Todd Whitman
Governor
