New Powerball Game Mints a Millionaire in New Jersey
POWERBALL ROLLS TO $310 MILLION
One $10,000 Win Becomes $40,000 Thanks To Power Play
Six $10,000 Winners Across the State
TRENTON , NJ – (February 9, 2012) – The new Powerball game structure minted its first New Jersey millionaire when that player matched the 5 white balls selected last night. Under the new game structure when a player correctly selects the 5 white balls the win is $1 million compared with $200,000 in the original game. If that player had also added the Power Play feature to their ticket purchase, their win would have doubled to $2 million . The winning $1,000,000 ticket was purchased at Stop & Shop #841, located at 4095 Route 1 South in South Brunswick, Middlesex County .
New Jersey Lottery also had seven lucky players win the Powerball third prize for the Wednesday, February 8 drawing. One of the lucky third prize winners had purchased the Power Play option and increased that win into $40,000. That winning ticket was sold in Bergen County at the Mr K Stationery, located at 1376 Queen Anne Road in Teaneck .
The other seven $10,000 third prize winning tickets were sold at the following locations:
Bergen County at Just A Buck , located at 700-58 Broadway in Westwood;
Bergen County at Quick Shop , located at 264 Main Street in New Milford ;
Gloucester County at Traders Variety , located at 1951 N. Black Horse Pike, Unit E in Williamstown;
Hudson County at Jeffrey Supermarket , located 102 Ocean Avenue in Jersey City ;
Middlesex County at Stop & Shop #841 , located at 4095 Route 1 South in South Brunswick ;
Ocean County at 7-11 #16497 (S) , located at 524 Lacey Road in Forked River ;
Union County at 7-11 #18024 (N) , located at 552-572 Morris Avenue in Elizabeth .
"Congratulations to all of these fortunate lottery players who purchased the winning tickets and to the retailers who sold them,” said the Lottery's Executive Director Carole Hedinger. “For selling the $1,000,000, the $40,000 and $10,000 winning tickets, the retailers have become eight of the Lottery's ‘lucky locations' overnight.”
In addition to the Garden State 's second and third prize winners, 83,471 other New Jersey players took home $441,321 in prizes ranging from $4 to $200, according to Hedinger.
The winning numbers for the Wednesday, February 8 drawing were: 17, 28, 38, 39, and 51. The Red Power Ball number was 33. Wi th no winner of the top prize, the Powerball jackpot will roll to $310,000,000 for the next drawing to be held Saturday, February 11 at 11:00 pm.
