Notice to All Engineer/Surveyor-in-Training Applicants and Fundamentals of Engineering/Surveying Exam Candidates

ANY CANDIDATE WISHING TO TAKE THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING (FE) OR FUNDAMENTALS OF SURVEYING (FS) EXAM WILL NO LONGER REQUIRE THE APPROVAL OF THE NEW JERSEY BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND LAND SUVEYORS.

Commencing on November 4, 2013, registration for the FE or FS exam can be accomplished on-line by visiting the NCEES website ncees.org and following the instructions to register and provide payment. The FE and FS exams will be computer-based and will be administered only at approved Pearson VUE testing centers. The first available seating at a Pearson VUE testing center for the FE and FS exams will be Tuesday January 2, 2014.

There will be four (4) testing windows for the FE and FS exams annually. Each of these windows will last two months, with a month between them. Therefore, exam appointments will be available in January and February, with no exams offered in March; exam appointments will be available in April and May, with no exams offered in June; exam appointments will be available in July and August, with no exams offered in September; and exam appointments will be available in October and November, with no exams offered in December

Candidates for the FE or FS exams may take the exam only one time per testing window and no more than three times in a 12-month period.

PLEASE BE ADVISED - Successful completion of the FE or FS exam alone does not ensure certification as an Engineer/Surveyor-in-Training in the State of New Jersey. To obtain an EIT or LSIT certification you must file a complete and notarized EIT/LSIT Application (including all supporting documentation) with the New Jersey Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and meet all the requirements of N.J.A.C. 13:40-2.8 or 2.9. The Board's regulations may be found at: http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/chapters/Chapter 40 State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.pdf
