New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs Offers
Back-to-School Shopping Tips
NEWARK – With summer almost over and the school season about to begin, the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs today issued a Consumer Brief with tips on the best ways parents can save money while shopping for back-to-school supplies.
"The National Retail Foundation estimates that families with students in grades
K-12 will spend an average of $600 on apparel, school supplies, and electronics, and college students will spend an average of $800 on items including dorm furnishings and food," Thomas R. Calcagni, Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs, said. "We're offering advice to help savvy consumers develop a game plan to spend less, while ensuring their children are fully equipped and ready to learn."
