South Jersey Dentist Surrenders License
Prior to Scheduled Disciplinary Hearing
NEWARK – The State Board of Dentistry entered into an Interim Consent Order with a South Jersey dentist today by which the dentist voluntarily surrenders his license and ceases practice until criminal charges pending against the dentist are resolved.
Jon J. Lackner, a Cherry Hill resident who formerly worked in a Vineland dental office, cannot see or treat patients, under terms of the Interim Consent Order approved by the Board of Dentistry today. Lackner faces criminal attempt sexual assault charges in Pennsylvania.
The dentistry board was scheduled today to consider whether to emergently suspend Lackner’s license until Lackner entered into the consent order.
Bensalem, Pennsylvania police in March charged Lackner with criminal attempt statutory sexual assault, criminal attempt aggravated indecent assault, and other related charges, following his online relationship with an undercover police officer who pretended to be a14-year-old girl. Lackner was arrested at a location where he was supposed to meet the girl.
“This licensee represents a clear and imminent danger to the public and we could not allow him to continue seeing patients given the nature of these allegations,” Attorney General Anne Milgram said. “I’m pleased the Board has approved an interim resolution to protect the public.”
The Office of the Attorney General on April 29 filed an Order to Show Cause and requested the disciplinary hearing.
The license surrender is indefinite and will remain in effect until the Board takes further action on Lackner’s license upon the resolution of the criminal charges.
“The public’s safety is paramount to our licensing boards,” said Consumer Affairs Director David Szuchman. “The rules and regulations that the boards enact, and enforce, reflect the commitment of board members to safeguard the public.”
Deputy Attorney General William Lim represented the state in this matter.
