Welcome to the Jurisprudence Orientation for Audiologists And Speech-Language Pathologists

The New Jersey Legislature finds and declares that the practice of audiology and speech-language pathology needs to be regulated for the protection of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of this State. In order to raise awareness of current New Jersey statutes and regulations applicable to the practice of audiology and speech-language pathology, it is now required that all new applicants for licensure (13:44C-3.2(c); applicants who are licensed in other states who wish to become licensed in New Jersey (13:44C-3.4(d); individuals applying for temporary licenses (13:44C-5.2(c) and current licensees who are renewing their license as part of their biennial license renewal and reinstatement (13:44C-4.1(i), complete an online Jurisprudence Orientation.

It is every licensee's responsibility to know the legal requirements governing the practice of their profession and to be alert to changes in those requirements. The following Jurisprudence Orientation was designed to help ensure that licensees are familiar with both the law (N.J.S.A. 45:3B) and regulations (N.J.A.C. 13:44C) that govern the practice of audiology and speech-language pathology in New Jersey. Copies of these documents can be found on the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Advisory Committee website.

The following Orientation is a mandatory online training exercise which covers various aspects of both the statute and administrative regulations. Licensee's ongoing familiarity with the most current versions of these documents will serve to protect the health, safety, and welfare of individuals receiving audiology and speech-language pathology services in New Jersey. In addition, completion of this Orientation aims to reduce the number of disciplinary cases brought before the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Advisory Committee by requiring licensees to be familiar with the regulatory requirements that guide their professional practices in the State of New Jersey.
