The Division of Gaming Enforcement currently has openings for the position of intern. Within the Division, areas of work include each of the following:

Casino Entity Licensing - assures the suitability of casino licensees, their affiliated entities, principal employees, significant investors and others with authority over the casino entity. A primary focus is analyzing financial transactions and the stability of casino operations.

Employee Licensing - investigates and reports on the financial stability, good character and integrity of applicants for casino employee and casino key employee licenses and handles revocation cases.

Service Industry Licensing - investigates and reports on the integrity of gaming and non-gaming companies or individuals that seek to conduct business with the casinos.

Regulatory Enforcement - prosecutes cases involving violations of the rules of the game, accounting and internal controls, and other matters involving applicable laws and regulations.

Technical Services - tests and assures the integrity of all gaming equipment in Atlantic City casinos including some 28,000 slot machines by operating a state-of-the-art slot laboratory for testing each game and employing a team of specialists who assure game integrity once the games have been approved for play.

Description of Intern Positions:

There are currently opportunities available in these areas for law students, paralegals, investigative personnel and engineering/mathematical staff as unpaid interns under a work/study program for school credit or work experience in our offices located in Trenton and Atlantic City. Comprehensive in-service training and supervision are offered. Students will review investigative files for completeness and analyze information, prepare reports and complaints which are submitted to attorneys for review, and write legal briefs. Third-year law students are eligible for a program through which they can represent state interests before the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, may try cases, and present oral arguments pursuant to New Jersey Court Rule 1:21-3b. Students may attend Commission meetings, hearings and conferences.
