Press Conference Announcement for Mon. April 18
Attorney General’s Office & Division of Criminal Justice to Announce Newly Revised Sexual Assault Response Guidelines
Specially trained nurses and police to discuss SART/SANE Program

WHAT:
Attorney General Peter C. Harvey will announce that more than 100 county Sexual Assault Response Team Advisory Board members have completed a mandatory training session on the newly revised “Standards for Providing Services to Victims of Sexual Assault.” The training is part of the SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) and SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Program, a statewide initiative to raise awareness of the programs and resources that are available to victims of sexual assault. The program uses a “team” approach, ensuring that every victim of sexual assault has access to the best possible care and services available from health care, law enforcement and rape care advocacy agencies throughout the state.

The revised guidelines promote a victim-centered approach to sexual assault. The new guidelines will serve as a foundation for establishing county policies and procedures specific to the needs of each county’s population and local resources.
