TRENTON – La Primera Asistenta del Fiscal General Anne Milgram y el director de la División de Justicia Criminal, Gregory A. Paw informaron que 46 miembros de las Nueve Cartas que forman parte de la pandilla callejera “Bloods” incluyendo sus lideres, fueron acusados por un jurado investigador estatal, de pertenecer al crimen organizado en primer grado y otros cargos relacionados con una investigación conjunta de la Policía Estatal de New Jersey y la División de Justicia Criminal.

Según el director Paw, el acusado David “Duke” Allen, de 34 años, se presume era el cabecilla de la pandilla y dirigía desde una celda de la prisión estatal en Trenton. Dos de sus subjefes, Jermaine Little, de 34 años, y James Pringle, de 34 años, ambos de Newark, fueron acusados de dirigir una red de narcotráfico. Si son encontrados culpables, ambos enfrentan 25 años de cárcel, sólo por estos cargos.

El Jurado Investigador también formuló cargos en contra de otros 5 sospechosos acusados de homicidio, dos cargos de delitos graves de asesinato y conspiración de asesinato en el tiroteo fatal en contra de Leory Lindsey, ocurrido el 23 de enero de 2006 en su vivienda en Vineland. Los otros acusados son: Steven Armstead, de 26 años, de Millville; Almeen Palmer, de 30 años, de Atlantic City; Quason Blake, de 19 años, de Atlantic City; Kelsey Smith, de 20 años, de Atlantic City; y Evelyn Parker Campos, de 30 años, de Fairton.

Pringle y Michael Smart, de 25 años, que permanecen en la cárcel en condado de Atlántic, fueron acusados de intento de homicidio en relación con el tiroteo del 3 de mayo de 2006 en Irvington la noche siguiente. Los cargos de asesinato, delito grave de asesinato e intento de asesinato, acarrean sentencias potenciales de 30 años de prisión y 30 años /cadena perpetua.

Las acusaciones comprometen a 11 sospechosos adicionales por conspiración en cometer homicidios y presunto complot para dar muerte a otros individuos. Estos cargos acarrean sentencias de hasta 20 años en prisión.

Los actos de homicidio probablemente fueron efectuados, hubo intento y conspiración por los acusados en relación las actividades delictivas del grupo “Nine Trey”, los cuales atestiguan la enorme violencia que se le vinculada a los “Bloods”, dijo la Primera Asistenta Milgram. “Con las investigaciones y los procesamientos que apuntan en dirección de estas violentas pandillas callejeras, estamos intentando reducir el uso de armas de fuego y el derramamiento de sangre que están plagando muchas de nuestras comunidades”, añadió Milgram.

“Mantendremos la vigilancia para arrestar y procesar a las pandillas callejeras, y tenemos información recolectada por la Policía estatal y otras agencias, que inicialmente fue dirigida por los fiscales estatales para asegurar que podemos inutilizar a las pandillas callejeras,” sostuvo el director Paw.

“Continuaremos utilizando la inteligencia policial para reducir el crimen y eliminar las violentas pandillas en New Jersey,” dijo el Coronel Rick Fuentes, Superintendente de la Policía Estatal de New Jersey.

Hay un total de 48 acusados habiéndose formulado 74 cargos en total. 45 acusados enfrentan cargos de ser parte del crimen organizado en primer grado, conspiración en segundo grado y posesión y distribución de narcóticos. Los cargos de participación en el crimen organizado acarrean sentencias por encima de 20 años en prisión, y los cargos de conspiración en segundo grado se castigan con 10 años de cárcel.

Asimismo, John Abbey, de 38 años, de Little Egg Harbor, y co-propietario del estudio de grabaciones de Música Rap en Atlantic City “ Black Wall Street East”, fue acusado de lavado de dinero en segundo grado de $83,500 relacionado con las actividades criminales de “Nine Trey”, parte de una porción que fue “blanqueada mediante sus negocios. Estos cargos criminales acarrean sentencias por encima de 10 años en prisión y el pago de multas por más de $500,000.

Los acusados pueden ser elegibles para recibir condenas a un término extendido en muchos de los cargos si el jurado determina que los delitos fueron cometidos mientras participaban con conocimiento en las actividades delictivas de las pandillas callejeras. El caso se encuentra en manos del Juez de la Corte superior del condado de Mercer, Neil H. Shuster.

Los casos fueron presentados a un jurado investigador por los Vice Fiscales: Andrew Butchko, John Corson Jr., Lauren Scarpa Yfantis, James Ruberton y Brent Hopkins.
