How can I join?
We're always looking for a few good musicians with or without prior military service. Currently we have openings in our clarinet section!
To join the 63rd Army Band, you must be between the ages of 17 and 34. You should possess strong sight-reading skills and be able to perform various musical styles. You'll be expected to pass an audition, for which you'll need to prepare one solo piece demonstrating your technical and musical skills. At your audition you'll be asked to perform your solo piece, play your scales, and do some sight-reading.
After passing your audition, you'll need to pass the Army's physical examination and meet other standards required to enlist in the Armed Forces.
When you become a member, you will be required to fulfill your military obligation by rehearsing, training, and performing with us one weekend each month and for 2 weeks in the summer.
An audition doesn't have to be your first exposure to the band: if you're interested in getting to know us better, please come and talk to us at one of our public performances, or call us at 732-974-5963 to arrange a visit.
At the present time, we have openings in our flute, trombone, percussion, guitar and clarinet sections. If you, or someone you know, may be interested in joining the 63rd Army Band, please give us a call!
