108th Wing Gets New Commander
Change Of Command Ceremony For N.J. Air National Guard Unit
WHO/WHAT: Col. Kevin J. Keehn assumes command of the 108th Wing from Brig. Gen. Michael L. Cunniff during a Change of Command ceremony to be held at the Wing. In addition, Cunniff will be awarded with the Legion of Merit and Air Medal for his exemplary leadership as the outgoing commander of the Wing. Cunniff is the new Adjutant General of New Jersey and has assumed command of the New Jersey National Guard and its more than 9,000 troops.
WHERE: Building 33-33, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. Entry into base through Wrightstown Gate
WHEN: Sunday, May 20 at 10 a.m.
BACKGROUND: A Change of Command ceremony is a military tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility for a unit from one commanding or flag officer to another. The passing of colors, standards, or ensigns from an outgoing commander to an incoming commander ensures that the unit and its Airmen are never without official leadership, a continuation of trust, and also signifies an allegiance of Airmen to their unit's commander
