National Guard Week Celebrated

In a State House ceremony, Governor James E. McGreevey, Commander-in-Chief, New Jersey National Guard, signed a proclamation designating May 11 through 17 as National Guard Week and May 15 as National Guard Day.

The 150th General Support Aviation Battalion post the colors at the opening of the State Assembly session.

The tribute to the Garden State’s 9,000 citizen-soldiers and airmen culminated on May 15 with National Guard Day at the State House campus in Trenton.

The activities, displays, and award presentations began in the Assembly Chambers with Brig. Gen. Glenn K. Rieth, The Adjutant General of New Jersey and retired Brig. Gen. Robert S. Dutko, Sr., State Chairman, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, presenting the Seven Seals Award to Senate Co-Presidents Richard Cody and John Bennett, Assembly Speaker Albio Sires, and Assemblymen Jack Connors and Nick Asselta for their support of of the New Jersey Army and Air National Guard.
