Somerville Agency to Offer Knowledge, Eye Exams Starting April 10th
(TRENTON) – The NJ Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) will open a new Driver Testing Center (DTC) on Monday, April 10, at the Somerville Motor Vehicle Agency.
This initiative was outlined in a study completed for MVC in December 2004 by Standard & Poor’s Corporate Value Consulting (S&P CVC), which analyzed MVC’s facilities and recommended ways to increase customer service across the state.
Statewide, 30 of MVC's 45 motor vehicle agencies administer knowledge tests and eye exams at in-house DTCs, where road tests can also be scheduled. The Somerville DTC will replace an existing testing center at MVC's South Plainfield Motor Vehicle Agency.
After Thursday, April 6, MVC will no longer offer DTC services at the South Plainfield Motor Vehicle Agency.
The Somerville agency is approximately 11 miles from the South Plainfield agency and will provide motorists with more space to complete their MVC-related business.
"This service realignment continues MVC's commitment to enhanced, efficient customer service for New Jersey's motorists at every MVC facility," MVC Chief Administrator Sharon Harrington said.
Part of this service realignment included the completion, in February, of a renovation project that expanded MVC’s Somerville agency by nearly 4,000 square feet, providing a comfortable space for DTC services. This renovation project is among almost a dozen new or revamped facilities MVC has opened recently.
