Hazlet MVC Agency Opening a Success
(HAZLET) –The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC), yesterday, opened its new model agency on Route 36 in Hazlet Township to much success. The agency, which processed more than 700 business transactions on its first day, is the latest step taken by MVC to improve customer service and provide motorists with an overall positive experience.
Located in the Airport Plaza Mall (1374 Route 36), the Hazlet Agency saw a steady flow of customers throughout the day in its 6,000 square feet of space, which includes 12 customer service counters with three digital camera stations. The new handicapped-accessible site also provides customers with ample parking and easy access from major and local roads.
“Our goal is to be a model for excellence in motor vehicle services,” said Sharon A. Harrington, MVC Chief Administrator. “MVC continues to move forward with improvements that allow customers to conduct their motor vehicle business in an efficient and secure manner.”
Also part of the new agency is an agreement with the Hazlet Township Police Department, which stations a uniformed officer in the agency via MVC’s Law Enforcement Agency Security Enhancement (LEASE) program.
“Our partnership with the Hazlet Police demonstrates our ongoing commitment to enhanced security. A uniformed officer serves as a visible deterrent to fraud and gives our customers piece of mind when visiting our agencies,” Harrington said.
The Hazlet Agency replaces the old, much smaller (3,962 square feet) Matawan Agency, which permanently closed on January 4. Hours of operation for the new Hazlet Agency are weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with late hours on Thursday evenings until 7:30 p.m. and Saturday hours from 8 a.m. to Noon.
MVC customers are encouraged to avoid the end- and beginning-of-the-month rush at MVC agencies by planning to visit mid-week and mid-month. Additionally, a number of transactions may also be completed online at www.njmvc.gov.
