Officially licensed sports license plates are now available for purchase. You may also want to add a personal touch to your vehicle by acquiring personalized plates.


NASCAR® license plates
Select from three types of officially licensed NASCAR® license plates:

• Six individual drivers
• Dale Earnhardt Hall of Fame Commemorative
• NASCAR® fan

License plate fees
NASCAR® license plates are available for a one-time $60 fee. Personalized plates are available for an additional $50 fee. A yearly renewal fee of $25 also applies. These fees are in addition to regular registration fees.

Eligibility
No person whose driving privilege in New Jersey has been revoked or suspended for any reason, within the two year period preceding the date of application, may be issued a standard or personalized sport plate. Such persons may reapply two years after the privilege is restored. Motorists who have been convicted of any of the following offenses within the past 10 years are ineligible for sports license plates:

• Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or while ability is impaired by alcohol (N.J.S.A. 39:4-50)
• Refusal to take a Breathalyzer test (N.J.S.A. 39:4-50.4a)
• Reckless driving (N.J.S.A. 39:4-96)

Convictions of death by auto or vessel, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-5, permanently prohibit sports license plate issuance.

How to order NASCAR® license plates
Sports license plates are available online or by mail.

Purchase NASCAR plates online:

• Order NASCAR license plates (MVC assigns plate number)
• Order NASCAR personalized plates (personalized 3 to 5 character combination)

Purchase NASCAR plates by mail:

• Complete and sign the Application for Sports Plates [pdf]
• For personalized plates, choose your top three choices for a three to five character combination of letters and numbers
• Submit fee by check or money order payable to NJMVC
• Mail completed application and fee to:

How to order personalized NASCAR® license plates
You can personalize your plate for a one-time fee of $50, in addition to the regular registration fee. Choose your top three choices for a three to five character combination of letters and numbers. No personalized sports plate combination considered offensive will be approved for issuance.

NOTE: If specific plates are removed from the Motor Vehicle Commission website, these drivers are no longer available and the Motor Vehicle Commission has no legal authority to remake or sell these plates, and an order for a new plate ordered by the customer must include a new initial fee as required by the NASCAR royalty agreement.
