Driver programs

MVC offers two driver improvement programs: Driver Improvement Program (DIP) for experienced drivers and Probationary Driver Program (PDP) for new drivers. Drivers completing these programs receive a three point reduction credit.

Driver Improvement Program- DIP
The Driver Improvement Program is a three hour classroom program managed by MVC. This program is offered in lieu of a 30-day suspension for drivers who accumulate 12 to 14 points in more than two years. Information about the program is included in the Notice of Scheduled Suspension that you receive in the mail. Up to three points will be removed from your driving record if you successfully complete the program. The fee for the program is $150.

Probationary Driver Program- PDP
When you are issued a driver license permit for the first time, you become a probationary driver. During the two-year probation period, if you are convicted of two or more moving violations with a total of four or more points, it is mandatory to enroll in the Probationary Driver School Program to correct improper or dangerous driving practices. This program is a four hour classroom program managed by MVC. The fee for the program is $150.

Warning
Following program completion, you will receive a warning. Any motor vehicle violation committed within one year after completing the course will result in suspension. Failure to attend the program as scheduled is also cause for suspension.
